The Toby Merrill Scholarship is awarded to students who are exemplifying the values as defined by Toby’s life.

He/she need to excel in the areas of academics, athletics, leadership, while special consideration will be made for candidates who unfortunately have personal or family issues related to cancer or bereavement.

The main aim of the Toby Merrill Scholarship is to change the lives of children who are experiencing financial difficulties which affect their education.

Actually, only the most deserving students who show kindness and strength during times of hardship will be awarded.

The Toby Merrill Scholarship was created in honor of Toby who passed away from Gastric Cancer on August 12, 2016.

During his last days, Toby was focused on providing financial assistance for children who have the desire to attend college, but cannot due to the financial issues or illness.

Full Description

Speaking about the award, it has to be said that the lucky recipients will get $9700 per year renewable for four years but only if he/she remains in good academic and citizen standing at the college.

Being that the scholarship is renewable for four years, the recipient will earn a total of $38,800 of scholarship.

Who's eligible?

For this scholarship, the requirements are actually a combination of the Academic Performance in high school and a minimum of grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 and the following:

  • The level of participation
  • A letter of recommendation that speaks about your character and leadership skills
  • Elected positions of leadership
  • Awards received for community involvement
  • Financial need
  • Personal interviews

How to Apply

In order to be accepted as a possible recipient, you are supposed to submit a complete application which will entail a filled out application form, two essays, and official transcript and school profile from you high school and a letter of recommendation from your teacher.

Make sure you submit a complete application prior to deadline, as those received after it will not be taken into consideration.

The winner will be announced and informed once the Committee determines who the most deserving candidate is.
