The John Grossheim Memorial Scholarship is designed to financially support the employees and their dependents of FMA Outside Processors Council (OPC) member companies.

Full Description

The NBT Board of Directors determines annual award amounts and the number of scholarships available.

Scholarship award funds will be sent directly to the financial aid department of the school the applicant attends and will not be mailed to applicants.

The scholarship award may be used for the payment of tuition, books and other school fees.

Who's eligible?

Nuts, Bolts & Thingamajigs awards scholarships to students majoring in programs that lead to careers in manufacturing and to be eligible to apply for The John Grossheim Memorial Scholarship you must have a 3.0 GPA and be currently enrolled in or entering a university engineering program, or related field.

Students must have a 3.0 GPA for university studies or a 2.5 GPA for two-year technical school studies at the time of application.

How to Apply

Prior to applying, we have to tell you some application requirements that you must meet so that you are accepted as a regular candidate for this award.

You will need to submit an online application, but besides that, there are some other documents that must be provided, such as an official high school or college transcript from the school where you last completed a semester.

You need to know that official transcripts must be sent by the educational institution(s) you last attend(ed) or requested through an electronic transcript service such as Parchment or National Student Clearinghouse.

Only transcripts postmarked by the application deadline will be accepted.

You should submit transcripts via mail to Nuts, Bolts & Thingamajigs, 2135 Point Boulevard, Elgin, IL 60123.

The application review and scholarship award decisions will be in October/November for spring terms and in April/May for fall terms.

If you happen to be the lucky scholarship recipient, there are also some requirements that you must meet.

You must reply to the email award notification to accept your award and verify your email address, as well as submit a photo and a signed photo release form and contact information for your local media outlets.

You must complete the process to start your one-year complimentary Student membership of the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association, Intl. (FMA), if not already a member.

You must notify NBT if you wish to receive a 365-day license for the student version of SolidWorks™ CAD Software.
