AIA Northeast Illinois is offering two scholarships in the amount of $3,000 to students enrolled in an accredited architecture program within the National Architectural Accrediting Board’s (NAAB’s).

Full Description

The scholarship award of $3,000 is awarded for a one-year period to cover tuition, fees, and other school-related expenses and cannot be used for other expenses.

You need to follow the submission due dates which are posted in the Scholarship Instructions being that late applications would not be taken into consideration for the award.

The application submission deadline is April 19th and applicants will be notified of awards by October 31st.

Who's eligible?

Applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible for the AIA/EIC Scholarship:

You must be U.S. Citizens and at least in your Junior year as of their enrollment.

They can be enrolled in a professional degree program accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB).

Applicants must have a home residence of record within the AIA/EIC Chapter boundaries  – Ford, Grundy, Iroquois, Kankakee, LaSalle, Livingston, and Will counties and the portion of Cook County, which includes the townships of Bremen, Bloom, Calumet, Lemont, Orland, Palos, Rich, Thornton and Worth.

If you do not meet these criteria, you will not be considered for a scholarship so it is suggested not to apply.

Past scholarship recipients are ineligible.

How to Apply

The first step in applying is the completion of the scholarship application.

Then, you are supposed to submit it, with the mail form, essays, and transcripts to the address The American Institute of Architects Eastern Illinois Chapter P.O. Box 1476 Homewood, Illinois 60430.

The requirement is to write a newspaper article promoting architecture and the profession to the public.

It should be written on a separate piece of paper, typewritten and 300-500 words long.

You should also describe in your own words why you selected Architecture as a career and specifically where you see your role as an architect within either the Profession or society.

As a part of application you need to list a minimum of one person whom you will request to complete
the enclosed recommendation forms.
