Robert Sherman Fine Art Scholarship

The Robert Sherman Fine Art Scholarship has the aim to support the young people who pursue a degree in the field of art and that way advance the development of artists in keeping with the mission of the Glenview Art League.

Full Description

The Robert Sherman Fine Art Scholarship Committee will determine only one the most deserving winner and he/she will get a $1000 award.

The applicants will be judged based on their application, the quality of their work, and letters of recommendation.

Who's eligible?

Applicants are required to meet the eligibility criteria before they even decide to apply for the Robert Sherman Fine Arts Scholarship.

The eligible applicant must be a graduating senior currently enrolled in a high school.

He/she must be planning to major in visual art in college.

They must also reside in Glenview attending any high school or be a student in District 225.

Family members and relatives of the Art League’s Board of Directors are ineligible.

You are suggested not to submit applications unless you meet these requirements.

Otherwise, the application will be rejected.

How to Apply

The application process includes certain documentation and files to be sent with the completed application form.

Applicants must submit a CD or flash drive with at least 10 images of their work and proof of college acceptance as visual arts majors for the upcoming fall semester.

The eligible applicants need to submit a completed application before March 30th and the application forms can be found on the scholarship provider’s official website.

Plus, they need to provide two letters of recommendation and one of them should be from an art teacher.

The second letter of recommendation should be from a teacher or other adult who knows you well and can tell why you are the perfect candidate for this award.

The applicants might be asked to attend an interview with a scholarship committee.

Once you submit the application, you should wait for contact from the scholarship committee and if contacted, you need to express willingness to interview with the scholarship committee, as that would affect the possibility of getting this award.
