This NDS Sophomore Merit Scholarship scholarship is named in honor of Distinguished Dairy Cattle Breeder and Klussendorf recipient Mike Lancaster.

The recipients will be announced on the National Dairy Shrine Awards Banquet and the scholarship will be paid after that.

Full Description

NDS Mike Lancaster Sophomore Merit Scholarship offers three awards.

The first one goes to the most deserving applicant and it is $1,500.

Other three scholarship awards are not negligible at all as they are $1,000 per person.

However, the number of awards depends on number and quality of applicants.

The winners will be determined according to their leadership skills, activities related to the dairy field, academic achievements and interests in the dairy industry.

Who's eligible?

Applicants who are eligible for The NDS Sophomore Merit Scholarship are undergraduate students who are currently enrolled in their sophomore year in a four-year college where they are pursuing a major in the areas of: Dairy Production, Dairy or Agricultural Economics, Communication, or Accounting, Dairy Research Scientist, Dairy Genetics, Dairy Equipment, Dairy Feed or Pharmaceutical Marketing or Sales, Dairy Consultant, Dairy Extension, Education or University Dairy Professor.

Furthermore, they need to possess interest in the dairy industry, have at least a cumulative 2.5 GPA.

Students who have already received this scholarship are not considered eligible.

 

How to Apply

People who find themselves eligible for this amazing award and want to try their luck with applying, should follow the instruction which will lead them through the application process and should gather all the necessary data which has to be attached.

This involves two letters of recommendation which should be signed by the faculty member who can prove the applicants achievements and activities related to the dairy field and industry.

So as to prove your grades and courses, you should submit the official transcripts which will be  viewed by the NDS Executive Director

Third document that should be sent via email together with those two already mentioned is the application form.

There you will be asked to honestly answer personal questions, as well as the questions related to your academic and volunteering achievements.

The application process starts on March 1st when the application forms will e available on the official website and it ends on April 15th.
