The National Dairy Shrine offers the NDS Mike Lancaster Sophomore Merit Scholarship with the aim to encourage qualified and deserving undergraduate students to pursue careers in the dairy industry or related occupations, as they are considered future leaders in this industry.

Major areas include Dairy Production, Dairy or Agricultural Economics, Communication,  or Accounting, Dairy Research Scientist, Dairy Genetics, Dairy Equipment, Dairy Feed or Pharmaceutical Marketing or Sales, Dairy Consultant, Dairy Extension, Education or University Dairy Professor.

The first award is $1500 scholarship, while there are three more $1000 scholarships.

Depending on the number and quality of applications, there can be even more awards given.

The amount will be paid after the winners are recognized at the National Dairy Shrine Awards Banquet.

The number of total winners is to be determined by the number and quality of applications.

So it is up to you to determine whether you should apply for the award or not, based on the eligibility and application requirements set by the scholarship committee.

 

Who's eligible?

When the eligibility is in question, you should know that the NDS Sophomore Merit Scholarship is available to any undergraduate student currently enrolled in their sophomore year in a four-year college with an explicit interest in the dairy industry.

However, the applicant must have at least a cumulative 2.5 GPA to be considered as an eligible candidate.

How to Apply

The application process starts on March 1st.

The application form will be available at the scholarship provider’s official website which is www.dailyshrine.org

You should download the application form, fill it out with your personal data, as well as with your educational and volunteering achievements and save the file.

Furthermore, the applicant is required to submit two letters of recommendation from the department chair or faculty members who can prove your activities and academic achievements and an official transcript should be emailed to the NDS Executive Director.

All these should be submitted before April 15th and once your application is accepted, you will receive a confirmation email, sometime after May 1st.

Late, ineligible and incomplete applications will not be taken into consideration.
