Since its foundation in 1949, National Dairy Shrine links dairy producers, scientists, students, educators, technical consultants, marketers who are all interested in the preservation of our dairy heritage and dairy industry.

It supports young generations by offering various scholarship for different fields of study because it believes that tomorrow’s dairy leaders are in classrooms, dairy youth organizations, competitions and on dairy farms throughout the country.

Besides offering the scholarship for graduate studies, the NDS Kildee organization has a scholarship for undergraduate studies, as well.

This scholarship is also designed in honor of H.H. Kildee, a person who devoted his life to the College of Agriculture at Iowa State University.

It has been awarded since 1999 and each year National Dairy Shrine awards $1000 undergraduate scholarship.

Full Description

The scholarship is awarded to a junior/senior college student who is studying for the degree of Bachelor of Science in Dairy/Animal Science or has a major emphasis on dairy through another major.

The recipient of the award will be recognized at the National Dairy Shrine Awards Banquet.

Who's eligible?

The eligibility criteria are strict, as only the top 25 individuals in either the National 4-H Dairy Judging Contest or the National FFA Dairy Cattle Evaluation Contest are eligible to apply.

They should apply during their junior or senior year of college.

 

How to Apply

So as to apply you will need to submit three documents.

One of them is the completed application, which should be downloaded from the official website and filled out, then saved as KU.Last Name.First Name.doc.

The second of refers to two letters of recommendation from people at the faculty who are familiar with the applicant’s work.

Last, but not the least, are transcripts in which your courses and grades will be shown.

During the application process, you will be asked to submit some personal data, as well as, your academic standing, Dairy Cattle Judging and you should write a short text about your future plans.

All the above mentioned data should be sent to info@dairyshrine.org. and will be accepted from March 1st until April 15th.

If your application is accepted, you will receive a confirmation email after May 1st.
