National Strength and Conditioning Association Foundation Minority Scholarship

NSCA Foundation Scholarships are awarded to students who must be a candidate for a degree at the educational institution and the Scholarship funds must be used for tuition and fees to enroll in or to attend an educational institution, or for fees, books, supplies, and equipment that are required for the educational courses.

National Strength and Conditioning Association Foundation Minority Scholarship is designed to encourage minorities, ages 17 and older, to enter into the field of strength and conditioning.

If you are wondering who is defined as a minority, the “ethnic minority” is determined by the U.S. Census Bureau.

The scholarship application timeline is what each applicant has to be familiar with.

The application submission period closes on October 15th.

Then, applications are reviewed and assigned to Scholarship Committee Members by Scholarship Committee Chair.

All scholarship applicants must be pursuing a degree and career in one of the following fields of study:

  • Exercise Science
  • Human Performance
  • Physical Therapy
  • Strength and Conditioning
  • Athletic Training
  • Personal Training
  • Exercise Physiology
  • Human Biology
  • Biomedical Engineering
  • Anatomy
  • Physiology
  • Physical Education
  • Kinesiology
  • Sport Science

The scholarship winner will be determined by the NSCA Foundation Board of Directors and the decision will be based on average scores and the quality of the applications.

Who's eligible?

Awards in the amount of $2,000 are granted but only to those who are eligible for the award.

Specific Requirements include:

  • Current membership at the time of application.
  • Defined as a minority by the US Bureau of Census.
  • The applicant has to be in the pursuit of a degree in a strength and conditioning field.
  • The applicant has not won this award twice previously.

NSCA/NSCA Foundation Board of Directors, NSCA/Foundation staff members, members of the scholarship committee, scholarship reviewers are not eligible to receive scholarships nor write letters of recommendation for applicants.

How to Apply

Scholarship applications period lasts from August 1 to October 15 annually.

The application procedure includes the submission of the completed application form supported by three letters of recommendation and transcripts from each school attended.
