Stephen J. Roy Memorial Scholarship Fund

The Stephen J. Roy Memorial Scholarship Fund was named in honor of Stephen J. Roy who was a consummate professional and who left a lasting legacy while practicing law as City Attorney for the City of Fort Collins.

In 2012, Mr. Roy was honored with the Larimer County Bar Association’s Professionalism Award.

The Stephen J. Roy Memorial Scholarship is a need-based scholarship, available to students who have an interest in law and ties to Larimer County.

Full Description

This scholarship is payable within two years of graduation.

This scholarship is available to high school senior applicants and the amount of the award is $2000.

Who's eligible?

Stephen J. Roy Memorial Scholarship Fund has created this scholarship program so as to provide assistance to students with financial need who have resided in or have substantial ties to, Larimer County.

Plus, to be eligible for this scholarship students must show an interest in the study of law or our system of government, debate or other similar law-related educational activities.

Students attending Windsor High School are eligible to apply.

How to Apply

As a part of the application form, you will be asked to provide your educational and personal details as well as answer the supplemental questions.

You have to describe for the selection committee your family’s financial situation and why you feel you should be awarded this scholarship.

Then, you have to write an essay describing your interest in the study of law or our system of government, debate or other similar law-related educational activities.

The essay should be no more than 2 pages and you are supposed to paste your content into this essay box and save.

If you do NOT attend a high school (or home school) in Larimer County or attend Windsor High School, please describe your ties to Larimer County.

Make sure you submit all the documentation prior to the deadline on February 28, as you are responsible that all the documents are received on time.

Late and incomplete applications will be rejected even though the applicant is eligible for the award.
