John M. & Mary A. Shanley Memorial Scholarship exists thanks to donors who understand that the help is necessary to be provided to students who deserve it due to their excellent academic achievements and at the same time have trouble paying higher education.

Since its foundation, the organization has awarded over $761,000 to 135 individuals.

 

Full Description

The John M. & Mary A. Shanley Memorial Scholarship Fund has helped numerous students in achieving their dreams.

This scholarship is aimed at High School Seniors with financial needs and the amount offered is $5,000.

The great thing is that the scholarship is renewable up to 4 years if you remain eligible for it.

Who's eligible?

As you will be asked to answer some of the prequalifying questions, that way the system will decide whether you are eligible or not.

But, even before answering the questions, make sure that you meet certain eligibility criteria, so as not to waste time and effort if you are not.

Firstly, you have to be studying Law, Medicine, Dentistry, Education, Ministry, Engineering, Accounting, Agriculture, Architecture or Computer Science and have to graduate from a high school in Charlotte, Hendry or Lee County.
Secondly, you should have an unweighted GPA of 3.0 or higher, as as this is a need based scholarship,, there should be a documented financial need provided.
The selected applicants will be called for an interview.

How to Apply

There is an online application process  which enables you to apply for the Southwest Florida Community Foundation scholarships.

Firstly, you will be asked to answer some of the Prequalifying Questions according to which it will be determined if you are eligible for it.

Then, you will be prompted to create a password while your email address will be your username.

The scholarship application process opens on December 17th,and closes on February 24th, so it is important to submit your application before the official deadline.

Make sure that you have completed the FAFSA, which will provide you with the SAR report needed, have a letter of recommendation and  transcripts which will prove your GPA.

If you are awarded, you will get a notification by email or by mail in May.
