(ISC)² Richmond-Metro Chapter Scholarship

The (ISC)² Richmond-Metro Chapter Scholarship is administered by the Center for Cyber Safety and Education and it offers four awards of $1,000 to high school Juniors or Freshmen planning to study in the field of cybersecurity, information assurance or related field.

Applicants will be scored by members of the (ISC)2 Metro Chapter and the winner will be determined based upon three categories:

  • Passion
  • Merit
  • Financial Need

(ISC)2 Richmond-Metro Chapter Scholarship application process opens on October 14 and closes on January 31, so make sure you submit all the required documents prior to that moment.

It is the applicant’s responsibility that all documents come on time, being that late and incomplete applications will be rejected.

Who's eligible?

Students who would like to apply must meet the eligibility requirements first.

They must currently be in high school and must live in the Richmond-Metro area which includes the cities of Richmond, Colonial Heights, Hopewell, Petersburg; and the following counties: Hanover, Goochland, Henrico, New Kent, Powhatan, Chesterfield, Charles City, Dinwiddie, Prince George, and King William.

Furthermore, they must be planning on attending college or university within two years if awarded a scholarship and must be interested in studying in a field that includes a focus in cyber-security, information assurance or similar.

How to Apply

The eligible applicants for the award should know what material to submit so that their application is considered complete and acceptable.

You need to send unofficial transcripts from your current educational institution, while you will be asked to provide official transcripts if you receive the award.

One Letter of Recommendation is obligatory and the writer should speak about the skills or abilities that the applicant has that will support him/her in completing a degree.

Mandatory documentation is an essay which should not be longer than two pages and in which you will describe what makes you stand out from other applicants, and why you should be chosen to receive this (ISC)2 Richmond-Metro Scholarship, as well as speak about your personal and education backgrounds and what attracted you to the field of cybersecurity.
