In 1985, the GFOA organization has established the Daniel B. Goldberg Scholarship with the aim to recognize outstanding performances by graduate program students preparing for a career in state and local government finance.
Goldberg-Miller Public Finance Scholarship is funded by the Girard Miller Foundation.
GFOA is proud to offer over $90,000 in scholarships annually.
The Goldberg-Miller Public Finance Scholarship is considered an outstanding one, being that the lucky winner will get the amazing $15,000 award.
The GFOA Committee will review all scholarship applications and determine the most deserving candidate according to the following criteria:
- Career plans in state/provincial and local government finance
- Past academic record and work experience
- Strength of coursework and a demonstrated connection between coursework and career goals
- Letter of recommendation
To submit an application, you should complete the online form and the great thing is that by submitting one application, you will apply for multiple scholarships as long as you are eligible for them.
Applicants are responsible for ensuring all required application materials are submitted.
Interested students should first get familiar with the eligibility requirements for scholarship awards and only if they meet them, they should submit the application.
The eligible applicant is a citizen or permanent resident of the United States or Canada who has plans to pursue a career in state/provincial or local government finance.
Past winners of a GFOA scholarship are not eligible to apply.
The additional criteria for the Goldberg-Miller Public Finance Scholarship are:
The applicant has to be enrolled full-time at a graduate level and his/her course of study has to be related to state/local government finance.
