The Gold Star Mission is offering financial support in terms of scholarships to the family and friends of Illinois Service Members who have lost their lives in service to the country.

Full Description

The amount of $1000 awarded can be used for costs of tuition, school books, fees, on-campus room and board and other educational expenses.

Who's eligible?

Each scholarship has certain eligibility criteria that have to be met so that the applicant can be considered a possible candidate for it.

The eligibility requirements for the Gold Star Mission Education Scholarship are:

The applicant has to be a spouse, parent or a child of an Illinois Service Member who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country since 9/11, or a Sibling, Niece or Nephew of an Illinois Service Member who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country since 9/11.

Additionally, the eligible applicant can be a Dependent of an Illinois Service Member who serves/served honorably or an individual who exemplifies the same selfless service within his/her community for which our Fallen Heroes are remembered.

All the applicants must have a high school diploma or GED and they have to be currently enrolled in an accredited college or certificate granting institution.

 

How to Apply

The scholarship application process ends on December 15th so it is important to provide your application form and the supporting documents needed prior to that moment.

You may download a copy of the application online at www.GoldStarMission.org  and fill it out.

What needs to be submitted with the completed application form is:

Letter of application addressed to the Scholarship Committee, in which you will provide an explanation about yourself and your educational plans and it should not be longer than three typed pages.

Two letters of recommendations from high school teachers, college professors, trade school instructors, administrators or counselors.

Official transcripts of previously completed and/or in progress education while college students must submit college transcripts with the final grades from the last semester.
