The BMW/SAE Engineering Scholarship is an annual award which is provided by BMW AG in recognition of its commitment to excellence in engineering.
This scholarship is supported by the SAE Foundation and its main aim is to ensure an adequate supply of well-trained engineers for the future.
Full Description
It is good to know the timeline and description of the scholarship.
There is one scholarship awarded each year and the amount that will be received is $1,500 per year.
The scholarship may be renewed at $1,500 a year for three additional years so that the total award is $6,000.
The lucky recipient will be selected by the SAE Scholarship Committee and notified by the end of June, but the money will not be given directly to the recipient.
It will be paid into his/her account at the selected university in July or August.
The scholarship money can only be used for tuition or any other school expenses.
Who's eligible?
If you think that this scholarship is the right one for you and you are interested in applying, you first need to meet the student eligibility requirements and only then submit your application form.
The applicant must be a U.S. resident with an excellent academic achievement proven by the 3.75 or better grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
He/she has to be ranked in the 90th percentile in both math and critical reading on SAT I or composite ACT scores.
Last, but not least, he/she must be pursuing an engineering or related science degree through an ABET-accredited program.

Ineligible applicants are suggested not to apply.
How to Apply
The deadline for the application submission is March 15th and it is your responsibility to submit all the required documents up to that date.
Late and incomplete applications will not be taken into consideration.
Applications are available online from the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) website by clicking on the “Freshman Year of College Scholarships” link once the application process starts.
You are supposed to fill it out with honest and accurate answers.
