The Association of Iron and Steel offers various scholarships to students majoring in the following programs: metallurgy, materials science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, industrial engineering, environmental science/engineering, and computer science and a list of those scholarships can be found on the foundation’s official website.

Each scholarship has specific eligibility requirements, so make sure you are familiar with them.

Full Description

These scholarships have the goal encourage a Pacific Northwest area student to prepare for a career in engineering.

Eligible students are strongly encouraged to try their luck by applying for this award.

The number of awardees is determined annually based on the funds and number of eligible applicants.

Who's eligible?

Just like with any other scholarship, prior to applying it is significant to get familiar with the eligibility requirements and submit an application only if you meet them all.

Otherwise, you are suggested not to apply but to look for the scholarship program you are eligible for.

The criteria for the Association for Iron & Steel Technology Scholarships is the following:

The applicant must be an undergraduate student who is attending a university or a four-year college.

He/she has to be a US citizen.

The scholarship is available to both full-time and part-time students, but it is restricted to students studying Engineering/Technology, Materials Science, Engineering, and Metallurgy.

Applications will be accepted from university freshmen, sophomore, and junior applicants but they need to possess a minimum 2.5 GPA, which is required for the application.

Last, but not least, the applicant has to express a strong interest in the iron and steel industry.

Failing to fulfill at least one of the requirements makes you ineligible for the Association for Iron & Steel Technology Scholarships.

What you will need besides a complete application form, which should be filled out with accurate details related to your personal and education history, is the following:
