Wilson W. Carnes Scholarship

The Wilson W. Carnes Scholarship is named after Mr. Wilson Carnes, who is a retired editor of FFA New Horizons magazine.

The scholarship is possible to be awarded thanks to his friends and co-workers whose aim is to encourage FFA members to pursue an agricultural magazine publishing career.

Full Description

This is a nonrenewable award and it is very important to provide all the documents prior to the deadline on February 15th.

The awards may be used for books, supplies, tuition, fees and room and board and will be given to the educational institution in which the recipient is enrolled.

Some of the important information related to this scholarship are:

The application process opens on November 1st and ends on January 15th.

Once the scholarship committee determines the winners, both Winners and Non-Winners are notified about that on May 1st.

Scholarship checks are mailed by August 3rd.

The fund is awarding approximately two scholarships at $1,000 each.

Who's eligible?

The eligible applicants are current FFA members and high school seniors or college students planning to enroll or currently enrolled full-time.

There is no GPA requirement for this scholarship while eligible majors are Agribusiness, Agriculture, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations.

How to Apply

The Wilson W. Carnes Scholarship is an annual award for FFA members graduating from high school and enrolling at a four-year college/university pursuing studies in Agricultural Communications.

The committee has determined certain criteria for selecting the lucky recipient and those are student’s GPA, ACT or SAT scores, class rank, leadership in FFA activities, leadership in community activities, and involvement in the Supervised Agricultural Experience Program (SAE).

What people find great is the fact that students should complete one online application to be considered for all FFA-administered scholarships.

In the application process, the students will need to provide formation about his/her activities and a 1,000-word essay.
