All of the TKE Foundation leadership and scholarship awards are designed to support active collegiate members of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity.
One of them is the TKE Bruce B. Melchert Scholarship which is named after and created to honor a former member of the Board of Directors of the TKE Foundation, Bruce B. Melchert who also served as the Executive Vice President of TKE from 1960 to 1972.
This is a competitive scholarship and the number of awardees as well as the amount of the award is determined annually and is prone to change.
So, you should get familiar with the application timeline, requirements and deadline date before applying for this award.
In the majority of cases, there is one winner who gets a $500 award.
So as to be eligible for this award, the applicant must be a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon.
The Bruce B. Melchert Scholarship is awarded only to those applicants who have an excellent academic achievement with a grade point average of at least 3.0 or higher and who must be at least a sophomore or above.
Furthermore, this is not the only eligibility requirement.
They need to recognize outstanding leadership within the chapter, having served as Recruitment Chair, Prytanis or other major officer positions in the chapter, and a leader in IFC or other campus organizations.
Last, but not least, the applicant must be pursuing an undergraduate degree in political science or government, and have a goal to serve people in a political or governmental service position.
You should also have in mind that the preference will be given to a member of the Beta-Theta Chapter but, if there are no such candidates, the scholarship will be open to any other qualified Teke.
How to Apply
If you are interested in the required areas of study, such as government and political science, and you meet all the above-mentioned requirements, you are encouraged to apply.
What you need to provide is your transcript and a resume or your activity list, as well as a wallet-size head-and-shoulders photograph suitable for reproduction.
All the required documents, essays and application forms must be submitted prior to March 15th when the applications process closes.
