The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s Louis Stokes Health Scholars Program is sponsored by the United Health Foundation and since its foundation, it has been doing its best to increase the number of qualified African-American or Black students who are interested in entering the health field.

Up to this moment, the CBCF has awarded scholarships for nearly 30 years.

Full Description

The scholarship award that this foundation offers can be used to pay scholars’ cost of attendance which it noticed makes trouble to many students who show excellent academic achievements.

This award is the multi-year support to these scholars throughout their undergraduate and graduate studies.

What the recipients of the United Health Foundation Louis Stokes Scholarship should demonstrate are leadership ability, community service, and academic talent.

Who's eligible?

Interested applicants should first meet the eligibility requirements and only then apply for the award.

A qualified applicant is a person who is currently enrolled full-time in an accredited academic institution and has a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

Plus, the applicant must be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in a health-related field, and be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

How to Apply

The timeline of the application process is very important.

First, you should know the moment of the beginning of the procedure, since that will be the moment when the application form will become available on the scholarship provider’s official website.

Then, you are supposed to get familiar with all application materials that must be submitted online through the application portal, to gather them all and do the submission before the deadline in order to be considered and that is February 1st.

What applicants need to upload as supporting documentation is a copy of their official transcript while recommendation letters should be uploaded by recommenders through the online application according to the instructions provided.

Decisions about who the most deserving candidate is will be made in June and notifications will be sent.

If you happen to be the recipient, your scholarship award will not be sent to you, but directly to your academic institution.
