The main aim of the Tennessee Valley Interstellar Workshop Undergraduate College Scholarship Program is to provide scholarships to two college students planning to attend a four-year college seeking their first undergraduate degree.

The scholarship is merit-based and is sponsored by TVIW supporters Baen Books alongside Rob and Ruann Hampson.

Tennessee Valley Interstellar Workshop Undergraduate College Scholarship Program is open until May 15th and all interested applicants are suggested to submit the documentation prior to that moment.

Winners will be announced in July and the scholarship may be used at any college or university in the United States.

Who's eligible?

The committee has determined certain eligibility requirements, and before starting the application procedure, it is a good idea to take a look at a list of the supporting documents needed.

In order to be considered eligible, the applicant must be a full-time student accepted to or enrolled in an accredited college or university where Bachelor of Science or Arts degrees can be achieved.

His/her major must be in a STEM-related field, while high school seniors and present undergraduates who are U.S. citizens and live in the Southeast U.S. – Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, or Virginia are eligible to apply, too.

People who consider themselves eligible are highly encouraged to try their luck.

How to Apply

Application Process includes that submission of a completed application form with a one-page explanation of applicant’s career goals and background information.

Furthermore, the applicant has to write a 1,000 – 2,000-word essay on one of the subjects offered and it should be saved and sent in .docx format (Word).

Some of the topics are:

A near-term plan (within 20 years) for building advocacy toward interstellar space exploration.

It is very important to mention the name of school you will be attending as the proof of acceptance or current student enrollment from the school enrolled is required prior to receipt of funds.
