The Mercer Family Foundation is offering college scholarships to deserving students who have chosen math and/or physics as a career path.

The Mercer Family Foundation understands that education is the key to the future so they are doing their best to financially support exceptional students who struggle with financial difficulties but who will, by receiving this award, be able to advance science and serve society.

Full Description

Scholarships are valid for one academic year and are not automatically renewed.

Interested students have to be enrolled full time at one of the seven public universities in Oregon, being that the scholarship is limited to them.

The universities are the following:

  • University of Oregon
  • Oregon State University
  • Portland State University
  • Oregon Institute of Technology
  • Eastern Oregon University
  • Southern Oregon University
  • Western Oregon University

Who's eligible?

People eager to apply for this amazing award should have in mind the eligibility requirements set by the scholarship committee.

The award is limited to juniors and seniors with declared majors in math and/or physics so other majors will not be considered appropriate.

The applicant has to be a citizen of the United States.

You should not waste your time applying if the above-mentioned criteria are not fulfilled.

How to Apply

The application form consists of a few sections that have to be filled out.

Besides your personal information, you are supposed to provide details related to your Financial Information and difficulties.

Additionally, you are supposed to write essays in which you will answer the following questions:

– If you receive this scholarship, how will it help you achieve these goals?

– Why did you choose math or physics as your major?

Last but not least, you should submit two letters of recommendation from either current or former math or physics professors at your university to and they should be sent to info@mercerff.org.

Applications procedure starts on February 1st when the application form can be found on the scholarship provider’s official website.

You are supposed to visit the site, fill it out and submit it before the deadline on March 31st.

Those applications received after the deadline will not be taken into consideration.

Scholarships will be awarded by April 30th.
