The Joseph James Morelli Legacy Foundation is a charitable organization that is awarding scholarships with the aim to continue Joseph James Morelli’s mission.

The foundation supports students, who like Joseph struggle with dyslexia, and both high school and college students with dyslexia, dysgraphia, and/or dyscalculia are encouraged to apply.

Those interested in applying for the Joseph James Morelli Legacy Foundation Scholarship are probably eager to find out important dates related to the application process.

First, on January 2nd the application program opens and the application forms will be available.

The application process finishes on March 13th and that is the last date for the application submission.

Once the application program closes, applications are not accepted.

On May 31st applicants are informed about the scholarship winners.

In summer, the scholarship funds are paid out.

The amount received is between $500 and $2,500 and the number of winners is determined each year.

However, the money can be used only for the payment of tuition, books, testing, tutoring, assistive technology and other resources required to obtain accommodations.

Who's eligible?

The eligibility criteria for the Joseph James Morelli Legacy Foundation Scholarship determines who should apply for this award and those who are ineligible are suggested not to waste their time applying, as they will be rejected.

You have to be a high school or college student who is pursuing a degree in STEM field (science, technology, engineering, math).

Furthermore, you need to have a demonstrated learning challenge (disability) of dyslexia, dysgraphia and/or dyscalculia so as to be considered for the award.

The whole scholarship application process is done online utilizing the SM Apply program.

The interested applicants will be able to find a link to this application program on the scholarship provider’s website once the application process opens.

The data required for completing the application is the following:

  • Email address
  • Recommendation letter from a teacher or counselor
  • Documentation of your learning challenges such as a 504, IEP or one-page letter from a teacher or counselor
  • Most recent transcript, official or unofficial

Only eligible applicants will be considered for the award.
