The annual UNSGC Fellowship winner selection is made by an interdisciplinary USU faculty committee and the award can be up to $15,000.

NASA requires these fellowship funds to have a match and they can be used to cover all applicable fees.

The Graduate Student Fellowship Competition Award deadline is May 31st so make sure you submit the application prior to that moment.

If you happen to be awarded, you will have to provide UNSGC an end-of-year report, present your work at the annual UNSGC Fellowship Symposium, and provide information about your studies and/or employment.

Who's eligible?

The eligibility that has to be met is the following:

The applicant has to be a citizen of the United States who is or will be a full-time graduate student during the academic following year.

Major career fields that are eligible for the Utah Space Grant Consortium Fellowships & Scholarships are Science, Mathematics, Engineering, and Technology

So, it can be said that the awards are available to Utah State University graduate students in disciplines that are of interest to NASA.

How to Apply

Once students determine their eligibility, they are supposed to submit their application packages which must consist of the following:

The completed fellowship application form which is available on the scholarship provider’s official web site once the application process opens.

  1. A letter in which they will be describing their research plan during the period of this award.
  2. A letter from your major professor acknowledging his/her role as your research mentor.
  3. A proposed match.

You can choose to submit either a hard copy of the application to Kim Olson (Room EL-158) or e-mail the completed package to kim.olson@usu.edu.

You should provide an abstract/overview of the research, details of your academic and research status that will enable you to succeed in carrying out this research.

You also need to describe the research project and the expected outcomes.

When the guidelines for Faculty letter of support for there are in question, your professor should speak about your own research and give expectations of this research.
