The Howard Bernstein Scholarship Fund offers scholarships to students who possess a commitment to the material handling, logistics or supply chain industry.

Full Description

Scholarship awards range from $1,500 to $6,000 and can be used for costs relating to tuition, fees, and books.

Who's eligible?

What many students find important when gathering information about certain scholarship is definitely the scholarship eligibility criteria.

This scholarship requirements include:
Students have to be enrolled full time at a qualified four-year school in bachelors, masters or doctoral program.

The program has to be on the target list of programs while Bachelors student must be classified as a junior or senior.

The target programs are the following:

  • Industrial Engineering
  • Industrial Distribution
  • Mechanical & Electrical Engineering
  • Computer Science
  • Business & Management

There are some post-secondary schools and programs that have been pre-qualified while other programs in schools located in the United States are qualified if they are accredited by ABET, ACBSP and AACSB.

Students from two-year post-secondary schools are also eligible if the student has completed a minimum of two years of study and has been accepted as a transfer student to a target four-year baccalaureate program at a qualified school in the United States.

All applicants must have a “B” grade point average in their major.

How to Apply

The application process for scholarships is not complicated and it is done by completing the online application form.

One application will allow students to compete for many available scholarships.

The documentation that has to be attached to application form is three letters of recommendation from individuals who can confirm the applicant’s evidence of commitment to the industry.

You can submit the letters written by a faculty member familiar with your coursework and projects, a direct supervisor during your work experience, an individual who made you able to attend an industry event

The author has to send the letter of recommendation directly to the Foundation to dvarner@mhi.org.
You will have to attach official transcripts of all academic work completed including your current school, prior schools and/or community, technical or junior colleges.

The Registrar’s office or equivalent office at the school should send the Official transcripts to the Foundation via e-mail or via regular postal mail.

  • Project Summary
  • White Paper
  • Case Study

All these should be received in the Foundation office by January 15th and the winners will be announced on April 30th.
