First and foremost, Hope College is a four-year college where students can achieve artistic excellence and become professionals.

However, Hope is the organization which does not only provide education, but also helps talented artists who have financial difficulties in covering the expensive educational costs.

The scholarships are given in various artistic areas such as creative writing, dance, music, theater and the visual arts.

 

Full Description

The Distinguished Artist Award is a talent-based music scholarships and it is a great thing to know that each of the scholarships offered by Hope are renewable for two years if you maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0  in case you get Presidential and higher awards or cumulative GPA of 2.75 for Distinguished Scholar Award and lower.

Who's eligible?

In order to be eligible for the Distinguished Scholar Award, you will need to have at least a 3.5 GPA and a 27 ACT or 1260 SAT.

Also, you should go to auditions which are open to all prospective Hope students on the following days:

  • Monday, January 14, 2024, 8 a.m.–12 p.m.
  • Friday, February 15, 2024 1–5 p.m.
  • Saturday, February 16, 2024 8 a.m.–5 p.m.

Audition is 10 minutes long and the pieces that you will present at the audition should be prepared in their entirety.

The instruments that you can play are: piano, organ, strings, wind and percussion.

You can also sing or present your composition.

Scholarship will be awarded on a competitive basis.

How to Apply

In case you cannot attend live audition, you can still apply for the scholarship by sending a recording and teh deadline for this is February 12.

The requirements are the same as if you were to attend the audition, plus you will have to

  • Print and fill out the printable pre-recorded audition form.
  • Make a recording of the highest possible audio quality.

You can record it on CDs, DVDs and .mp3 files or even a video which you can post in YouTube and email the link so that the reviewers can see it.
