Grand Rapids Community Foundation is so proud to award hundreds of scholarships annually to Kent County students, being that they noticed that many people who could benefit from high education are not able to afford it.

It has been awarding scholarships since its foundation in 1945 and it awards more than $1 million every year.

Full Description

The great thing is that by submitting a general application,  you will get into a group of applicants and the system will determine which Community Foundation scholarships you qualify for, so you might be chosen as some other scholarship winner.

The application period during which you are supposed to complete and submit the general online application starts on December 1st and lasts until March 1st.

This is a great opportunity, so do not hesitate to apply if you are one of the eligible candidates.

Who's eligible?

The foundation offers awards each year to Kent County students who are attending a college, or those pursuing a technical career.

To be eligible for the Violet Wondergem Health Science Scholarship, students must be residents of Kent or Ottawa counties who are majoring in a health service-related field at any accredited Michigan college or university.

They must prove their financial need through the FASFA report and achieve a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.

Ineligible applicants are suggested not to apply, being that their application form will not be taken into consideration.

How to Apply

The application process is made easy so that each interested applicant who meets the criteria can apply.

Before starting filling out the application form, you are supposed to gather all the necessary information.

You will need to provide details about your awards or employment/volunteer/extracurricular activities.

You will need to submit an academic transcript from the most recent semester and an essay speaking about your choice of college, course of study, and career goals.

Financial information from FAFSA or other resources is also obligatory.

Once you have reviewed the list of scholarships available through Grand Rapids Community Foundation and determined that the GRCF Violet Wondergem Health Science Scholarship is the right one for you, you should apply for it.

Scholarship committees consisting of volunteers from all over Kent County will review applications and inform you via e-mail.
