The Grand Rapids Combined Theatre Scholarship Fund is there to support young learners who are majoring in theatre arts and who unfortunately experience financial issues.
The fund exists since 1985 and awards college scholarships annually.
The award amount might vary, but this year’s scholarship is $2000.
So as to be eligible for the Grand Rapids Combined Theatre Scholarship, you will need to meet certain eligibility criteria:
You will need to be a student who is a resident of Kent County.
You need to be attending Aquinas, Calvin, Cornerstone, Davenport, GRCC, GVSU, or Kendall.
Furthermore, you must have financial need and a 3.0 minimum GPA.
If you do not fulfill these requirements, you are still encouraged to fill out the general application form as you might be eligible for some other scholarships.
The possible winners must have experience in any Grand Rapids area community theater venues and if you happen to be the finalist, you will be contacted for an interview as part of the selection process.
How to Apply
You will see that the application process is very easy and all you need to do is to follow the guidelines.
You will submit a complete application without much trouble and the first step in this application process is related to the gathering of your information.
You will need to submit your awards, as well as employment/volunteer/extracurricular activities.
The application process requires the submission of the academic transcript from most recent semester and an essay in which you will be speaking about your choice of college, course of study, career goals and information on past activities benefiting your community.
Furthermore, you need to have financial information from FAFSA or other resource.
Then, your task is to review the list of scholarships available through Grand Rapids Community Foundation, choose the one that you think you are eligible for and submit a general application.
According to your application and the data provided, the system will determine which Community Foundation scholarships you qualify for.
Scholarship committees comprised of volunteers from all over Kent County will review applications and determine the most deserving candidate.
