Gill-Elliott Scholarship is available to eligible applicants thanks to the generous donors who support the Blue Grass Community Foundation.

So, the foundation is pleased to offer a variety of scholarships to area students seeking educational opportunities once they finish their high schools.

Full Description

The Gill-Elliott Scholarship was named after and it honors William J. Elliott, who was a chemistry and physics teacher at Highlands High School for 32 years.

This is an annual award of $2,000 and there is only one recipient chosen each year.

You are suggested to take a look at the eligibility requirements and try your luck if you meet them.

Who's eligible?

When the eligibility requirements set by the scholarship committee are in question, this award is available to a graduating senior from Highlands High School who must have plans to major in the physical or biological sciences, math, engineering, pre-medicine, business, or education in college.

The Gill-Elliott Scholarship eligible applicant must have a cumulative unweighted GPA of 3.5 or higher and a composite ACT score of at least 28 or SAT score of at least 1250.

Ineligible applicants will be rejected.

How to Apply

Now, that you have determined your eligibility, you are highly encouraged to look for an application form on the official website, fill it out and submit it.

The application forms will be available on the BGCF application portal in January.

It is significant to know that the deadline to apply is in March and all the required documents must be received by the committee up to that moment.

The Required Documents include:

  • your transcript of grades,
  • ACT/SAT scores, and
  • your Student Aid Report.

Make sure you have gathered digital copies of these documents and they can be .pdf or other types of files before you start the application process.

By simply click on the upload button on the application portal, you will be able to find the documentation required in your computer and to successfully upload it to the application

A good thing is that at any moment you can save your work, logout and return at a later time to complete the application.

The application portal is directly available by going to http://bgcf.spectrumportal.net/Accounts/LogOn.
