Educated Eats is also known as the Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington Education Foundation created scholarships so as to assist individuals who demonstrate an interest and commitment to the restaurant industry but have financial need.

The main aim of the Educated Eats foundation is to promote the restaurant and foodservice industry as a career of unlimited opportunity and they are aware that the future of this industry is in the hands of young generations, so they have decided to support them in their pursue of higher education.

The award is offered to individuals who are planning a career in foodservice.

Who's eligible?

Educated Eats scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis to applicants who meet the eligibility criteria.

He/she must be a US citizen or have permanent residency and be a resident of Washington, DC metropolitan area.

He/she has to apply and gain acceptance into a full-time culinary/hospitality related post-secondary program with plans to enroll in a minimum of four semesters.

Or to be currently enrolled in, or have graduated in the past year, from a high school that offers quality culinary education coursework OR have a minimum of 400 hours of restaurant/foodservice work or internship experience.

He/she must have a minimum grade point average of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale or be in the top one third of your class.

They eligible candidates are those students who demonstrate an interest in continuing education in the restaurant industry.

The great thing is that both high school students and individuals presently working in the restaurant industry are eligible to apply for this scholarship, but the only requirement is that they are interested in pursuing education towards a food service and culinary profession.

How to Apply

The only way of applying for this scholarship is via the application form which will be available once the application process starts.

Application and accompanying information include:

  • Character Reference Form – two required
  • Reference Contact Information Form
  • Two Reference Letters
  • Applicant Essay: 500 words discussing why you should be awarded this scholarship and what your plans are for the future.
  • Current high school transcript

The proof of work experience is required in the form of a letter from your employer or mentor and the complete documentation has to be sent before the deadline on June 21st.
