Center for Public Integrity (CPI) Fellowship

The Center for Public Integrity (CPI) is proud to offer the Center for Public Integrity (CPI) Fellowship.

This is a nonprofit digital news organization which is supporting investigative journalism on issues of public concern.

Journalists write projects and stories for the CPI website, and they are also distributed through mainstream media outlets.

Full Description

The lucky recipient will earn a $30,000 stipend and receive 100% tuition.

Who's eligible?

CPI Fellowship is designed for a graduate fellow with solid reporting experience, strong writing skills who can express the interest in investigative journalism.

The eligibility requirement is that the applicant must be a U.S. citizenship or permanent resident who is enrolled as a full-time student in the corresponding master’s program.

When it comes to qualifications, the applicant must have reporting experience and strong writing skills as well as to be accepted to the MA in Journalism and Public Affairs.

He/she has to be enrolled full-time.

Ineligible applicants’ application forms will not be taken into consideration.

How to Apply

If you consider yourself eligible but do not know how to apply for this scholarship, here are the instructions on how it should be done.

Once you are admitted to the appropriate degree program, an email will be sent from gradcomm@american.edu to the email address provided in the application.

What you will get is a link to an online form which you need to complete and submit together with the following documentation as ONE PDF document:

You need to provide a cover letter, which should not be more than two pages long in which you will describe your interest in and qualifications for the Center for Public Integrity Fellowship.

Then, you should submit three samples of work by providing links to your work.

Two additional letters of recommendation in which the recommenders will speak about your professional qualifications and how you would benefit from the fellowship are also required.

All these have to be received prior to deadline on March 1st.

Applications received after that date will not be considered.
