AlohaCare Scholarship

AlohaCare is a local, non-profit health plan founded in 1994 by Hawaii’s Community Health Centers with the main aim to serve individuals and communities in the true spirit of aloha.

The AlohaCare Scholarship is made available thanks to the AlohaCare and the Association for Community Affiliated Plans (ACAP).

The scholarship is designed to financially support AlohaCare members or their immediate family members who are interested in pursuing a career in health services.

Full Description

The winner of this amazing award can receive up to $5,000 which can be used for education expenses, such as tuition, books and course fees.

Scholarship money cannot be applied to room and board and it is paid to the winner’s educational institution directly.

Who's eligible?

When the eligibility is in question, here are some requirements that must be fulfilled:

  • The applicant must be a current member or an immediate family member of a current AlohaCare member.
  • Applicant must demonstrate an intention to pursue a career in health care or social services.
  • Applicant must be enrolled at or applying to a higher education institution such as an accredited university, college, technical or vocational school and enrolled within one year of the application date.
  • The applicant must not have been a previous winner of the ACAP Scholarship Program.

How to Apply

It is very important to know that the letter of recommendation must come from a non-relative teacher, guidance counselor, employer, or other appropriate community member and that it is an obligatory part of the application package.

The Application Process consists of a few easy steps:

  1. You should go to www.AlohaCare.org to download the application;
  2. Then, you are supposed to complete the AlohaCare scholarship application with accurate details and complete the three essay questions;
  3. Submit a letter of recommendation with the scholarship application
  4. Complete confidentiality waiver, essay release and statement of accuracy;

Completed applications must be received by June 12th, 2018.

Applications must be either sent to AlohaCare’s office – dropped off in person or through the mail or submitted electronically to scholarship@alohacare.org.
