The Maine Police Emerald Society Kevin Riordan Presidential Scholarship

The Maine Police Emerald Society Kevin Riordan Presidential Scholarship is funded by the family of Daniel F. Cashman, who had been a supporter of the Law Enforcement community and whose three sons are serving in the Law Enforcement field from the Municipal to Federal levels.

Full Description

The Maine Police Emerald Society  Scholarship is designed to financially support one student annually but he/she needs to be currently in a post-secondary education program and who aspires to join the field of Law Enforcement upon graduation.

The lucky winner will be determined based on academic records, leadership responsibilities in both community and school activities, and a clearly written essay of academic and career goals.

The scholarship award of $500.00 will be given two increments of $250 and can only be used towards tuition, books, personal computer, or on-campus room and board.

Proof of registration in a vocational/trade school or accredited college is obligatory before payment is made.

Who's eligible?

The first thing that each interested person should be familiar with is the eligibility requirements that have to be met.

So as to be able to get the Maine Police Emerald Society Kevin Riordan Presidential Scholarship, the applicant must be graduating from a Maine high school or attending a Maine College or University and must be enrolled full-time in a Criminal Justice program or related field of study.

Ineligible applicants will be rejected, so they are suggested not to apply at all.

How to Apply

Besides the completed application with accurate answers, proof of the above requirements must be presented and your official high school transcript signed by your guidance counselor or school administrator must be submitted as well.

If you are currently in a post-secondary school please include your current transcript.

The applicant is supposed to write a 500-word essay speaking about his/her academic and career goals as they pertain to Law Enforcement and the reasons for wanting to pursue a Law Enforcement/Public Safety career.

The application form with all the supporting documents must be postmarked no later than MAY 1st and they should be mailed to:
