The Fauneil J. Rinn Scholarship

The Fauneil J. Rinn Scholarship is awarded each year to a female student in political science or the Masters in Public Administration program at San Jose State University.

For more than 20 years, this scholarship has honored the memory of former Professor of Political Science Fanneil Rinn, and early champion of women’s rights at SJSU.

The lucky winner will get an amazing award of $5,000.

The Fauneil J. Rinn Scholarship has aim to support the advancement of women in society and the achievement of gender equality.

Who's eligible?

Considering the eligibility requirements for the Fauneil J. Rinn Scholarship, you will have to meet all of them to be accepted as a possible winner.

The eligible applicants are women who are current students in good standing and enrolled on a full-time basis in the political science or master of public administration programs at San Jos State University and who have a minimum GPA of 3.0.

As this is not a need-based scholarship, financial need will not play a major role when determining the winner.

If you do not meet these requirements, you are not eligible and should not waste your time applying.

How to Apply

If the Fauneil J. Rinn Scholarship is definitely the right one for you, then you should get familiar with the application details.

When the judging criteria are in question, the award selection will be based on the applicant’s achievements and abilities which will be proved through the application material provided.

Once the application process starts, the applications will become available on the Silicon Valley Community Foundation website and the applicant must also submit two letters of recommendation with the application form.

You are required to submit a transcript, as well as a Resume or your Activity List with the completed application form.

Additionally, an essay is required which would not be longer than 500-words and it should be about a subject relevant to the political or governmental role of women.

If you have gathered all those documents, you are obliged to submit them prior to the end of the application procedure, which will be determined by the scholarship committee each year.
