Project Yellow Light is a scholarship competition designed to bring about change and the aim of this award is to encourage young artists to create a work of art that will have an impact on people to avoid distracted driving.

Full Description

If your entry is selected, your work may become a professional public service billboard by the Ad Council and can be shown on billboards across the U.S. courtesy of Clear Channel Outdoor.

There will be three winners.

The first-place winner will receive a scholarship in the amount of $5,000, the second-place finisher will receive $2,000 while the third-place finisher will receive $1,000.

Who's eligible?

This scholarship is designed for both high school and college students.

The eligible applicants must be high school juniors and seniors between the ages of 14 and 20 who will complete graduation requirements by or before July 31st or undergraduate college students between the ages of 15 and 25.

The works will be judged according to the author’s ability to capture the attention of others, to persuade others to alter driving habits, the clarity of message, and creative expression.

How to Apply

Applicants should create a video designed to motivate, persuade and encourage people not to drive distracted.

It is very important to follow the guidelines so that your application is not rejected.

  • Designs must be a horizontal image and original works of art
  • Designs may not include road signage or any color/font schemes that imitate official road signals or traffic direction as well as any design elements that are not of your creation
  • All persons depicted must wear seat belts and if you are taking a photo make sure that you are using the highest resolution possible on your camera/phone.
  • Message or tagline should be around 7 words or less.
  • Do not include a logo on your design.

The design specifications for creating your work are the following:

  • Follow the technical specifications for Clear Channel Outdoor Digital Bulletin Production
  • Art Pixel Dimensions: 400×1400 pixels
  • Color Mode: RGB
  • File Type: Uncompressed JPG
  • Spec artboard layout is available for download

Make sure to submit the application and all additional documents before the deadline on March 1st.
