NHA Past Presidents’ Legacy Scholarship

NHA is proud to have been awarding the Past Presidents’ Legacy Scholarship since 2008 with the aim to encourage students to consider becoming part of the U.S. hydropower industry.

Full Description

The application process begins on January 2, and from that moment on the National Hydropower Association will be accepting applications.

The $2,500 scholarship will be awarded to one promising young person who demonstrates the academic skills and commitment to help create the next generation of leaders in the hydropower industry.

The deadline for submission is February 15, and by that moment all the application material has to be received by the scholarship committee.

The winner will be announced at the NHA Annual Conference in Washington, D.C., in May.

Who's eligible?

In order to see whether you are eligible for this award, you are suggested to go through the eligibility guidelines offered below:

The applicant has to be a current college sophomore or junior or a graduate student with a minimum cumulative 3.0-grade point average on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) GPA who are enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or graduate course of study at an accredited four-year college or university;

The eligible applicants are students with an equivalent GPA at an accredited vocational-technical school or program.

All applicants must be U.S. Citizens or legal residents.

Applicant must be pursuing a program of study that is related to the hydropower industry such as engineering, sciences (biology, fisheries, and hydrology), communications, or environmental studies.

How to Apply

The application procedure for the award is the following.

You are supposed to visit the scholarship provider’s official website and find the application form available to download.

Besides answering all the question, as a separate attachment, you will need to provide a two-page essay responding to the following: Why should you receive the scholarship and how did you become interested in your selected field. Explain your interest in the hydropower industry.
