The MIT THINK Scholars Program is designed so as to promote science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

THINK is a science, research, and innovation competition for high school students.

Full Description

The foundation noticed the importance of supporting and funding projects developed by high school students who will keep on doing research in these fields and get involved in the careers related to STEM.

The program is run by a team of undergraduate students at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and sponsored by technology companies and educational organizations.

Selected winners are given up to $1,000 in funding for their projects.

Who's eligible?

Eligible applicants are high school students residing in the United States.

Unlike all the other scholarships which require that students complete a research project before applying, THINK offers additional guidance in the early stages of their project so that they will be able to finish it.

They usually select up to six finalists and three of them will receive additional scholarships.

How to Apply

Each scholarship program has its own application timeline and interested students should get familiar with these dates, so as to be able to provide the application form on time.

November 1st is the date when the application process to the MIT THINK Scholars Program opens online at think.mit.edu.

That is the moment when high school students start to generate exciting STEM research ideas to submit to the competition.

The application procedure finishes on January 1st and all applicants are required to submit project proposals to be evaluated by the MIT THINK committee and professors.

On January 15th, finalists are announced and notified of mentorship from MIT professors and researchers in their field, project funding, and an all-expenses-paid trip to MIT.

From February 2 to February 6, finalists visit MIT, tour the campus, receive guidance on projects, and engage in thought-provoking conversations with mentoring professors.

They are required to complete their projects by June and upon completion of their projects, finalists are awarded a scholarship towards continuing to fulfill their passion for STEM.

Winners will be posted on the scholarship provider’s official website in mid-January and will also be contacted by email.
