The Mercatus Center at George Mason University was founded over 30 years ago and its aim is to recruit, train, and support graduate students interested in careers in academia, government, and public policy.

The Mercatus Center’s Academic & Student Programs’s support is in terms of annual scholarships for students at George Mason University as well as other colleges and universities around the world.

The great fact about the Joseph Schumpeter Undergraduate Fellowship is that it is a renewable fellowship.

If you happen to be the lucky winner, you will study foundational writings in political economy, join conversations with various Mason faculty and Mercatus scholars and join a network of Mercatus students, alumni, faculty, and scholars.

Who's eligible?

It is designed to help undergraduate students at George Mason University who have financial difficulties.

Both full- and part-time Mason students from any discipline are allowed to apply but they need to be interested in studying key ideas in political economy.

How to Apply

If you consider yourself eligible for this award, you should visit the scholarship provider’s official website and apply to the Joseph Schumpeter Fellowship.

There you will find the “Apply Now” button where you are supposed to complete the online application.

The application consists of a 1-2 page cover letter in which you will speak about your undergraduate school career and your future academic plans, reasons of your interest in studying key ideas in political economy and how this fellowship can help you.

Additional documentation that needs to be provided is a current resume, a current Mason transcript and a few short answers to certain questions.

There is a possibility of saving the application and get back to it later, and the only thing you should do is to click the “save my progress and resume later” link.

The applications should be submitted before the deadline on May 20th.
