Mercatus Joseph Schumpeter Fellowship

The Joseph Schumpeter Fellowship is created with the aim to financially support undergraduate students at George Mason University.

The award is $1000, but the number of recipients is determined annually depending on the funds available.

Full Description

If you happen to be the lucky winner of this award, you need to meet the following requirements:

The fellows need to remain enrolled as a full- or part-time undergraduate degree-seeking student in good standing at George Mason University throughout their participation in the Joseph Schumpeter Fellowship.

Furthermore, they must attend and actively participate in the scheduled program of events.

They need to arrive on time and prepared for each event having carefully read any assigned readings in advance.

Last, but not least, they need to submit an updated CV or resume quarterly over the course of their participation in the program and on request.

The Joseph Schumpeter Fellowship includes a stipend, meals and all required readings at program events.

Schumpeter Fellows will get a total award of up to $1,000 per semester.

Mercatus Center Joseph Schumpeter Fellows are required to meet them, so as to be accepted as possible winners.

This is a competitive, renewable fellowship program for undergraduate students at George Mason University and both full- and part-time degree-seeking Mason students from any discipline can apply.

The fellowship is open to students who are interested in studying key ideas in political economy and how to use them in academic and policy research.

Ineligible applicants are suggested not to apply, as they will be rejected.

How to Apply

In order to apply to the Joseph Schumpeter Fellowship, you are required to visit the scholarship provider’s official website, find the “Apply Now” button and complete the online application.

The online application includes a 1-2 page cover letter explaining in which you should speak about what you hope to get from the program, among many other questions.

You are supposed to provide a current resume and a current Mason transcript.

All these should be submitted before the Application Deadline on January 5th.
