The Massachusetts High Demand Scholarship Program is there to support permanent legal residents of Massachusetts who are trying to get a high education degree and at the same time struggle with financial difficulties.

This scholarship program is open to Massachusetts State University students who are pursuing a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) degree.

Full Description

When the award amounts are in question, scholarships will be awarded based on the enrollment status of the students as follows:

  • Full-time enrollment (12+ credits) – Up to $5,500 per year or $2,750 per semester
  • Part-time enrollment (6-11 credits) – Up to $2,750 per year or $1,375 per semester

Who's eligible?

When you are interested in any kind of scholarship, the first thing you should know is who the eligible people are so as to find out whether you are a good match for it.

The only qualified student for the Massachusetts High Demand Scholarship Program are those who are enrolled in an eligible program and meet the following requirements:

They need to be permanent legal residents of Massachusetts for at least one year, as well as U.S. Citizens or non-citizens eligible under Title IV regulations.

Then, the applicant has to have applied for financial aid, using the standard Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Furthermore, he/she has to be enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in a designated high need field at a Massachusetts state university and must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0.

It is important to know that those who have received a prior bachelor’s degree or its equivalent are not eligible to apply.

The eligible educational institutions that the applicant must attend so as to be accepted as a possible scholarship winner are the following:

  • Bridgewater State University
  • Fitchburg State University
  • Framingham State University
  • Massachusetts College of Art and Design
  • Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts
  • Massachusetts Maritime Academy
  • Salem State University
  • Westfield State University
  • Worcester State University

How to Apply

The application form for the Massachusetts High Demand Scholarship is available on the scholarship provider’s website once the application process starts and the deadline to submit it is November 15th.

The most deserving candidate for the scholarship will be determined based on demonstrated student potential for excellence in the discipline/profession as well as financial need.
