The LouEllen Dabbs Scholarship is available thanks to the generosity of HCC Foundation Board Member William Bagshaw and Attorney Frank Fitzgerald who noticed the importance of financial support to those who are eager to reach higher education goals, but due to their financial situations in many cases decide to give up.
The committee will select the most deserving candidate according to the following selection criteria:
1) Financial need.
2) Academic achievement.
3) Character and potential for academic achievement.
If you happen to be the lucky recipient of this award, you should have in mind that the award money can be used to cover tuition only, and cannot be used for any other kind of expense.
Usually, the award amount offered is $750 per year and the number of recipients depends on the number of applicants and their qualifications.
The LouEllen Dabbs Scholarship is a competitive one that requires that applicants write an essay, so do your best to write it as great as you can to improve your chances of getting the award.
