Through the Leo Bourassa Scholarship, the Virginia Lakes and Watersheds Association is trying hard to help and support deserving students who are pursuing a degree in fields related to water resources.
They can be people who are eager to help with lake and watershed management, storm water management practices and protect the welfare of lakes and other water resources.
The Virginia Lakes and Watersheds Association awards two or four scholarships which can be either $3,000 to $1,000 each.
The Leo Bourassa Scholarship fund can be used for the recipient’s tuition and fees and the check will be written to the college or university the recipient is attending.
Full Description
The scholarship recipients who deserve the scholarship would be determined according to their academic performance, contribution to the field of water resources, and related extracurricular activities and all these should be documented via the attached files during the application process.
Who's eligible?
In order to be eligible for the scholarship, the applicant must:
- be a student in good standing at any Virginia accredited college or university,
- be a resident of Virginia at the time of application and at the time of award,
- have successfully completed at least two semesters of undergraduate study,
- be a full-time undergraduate, full-time graduate student, or a part-time graduate student enrolled in a curriculum related to water resources.
The fields of study can be biology, conservation, ecology, engineering, environmental science, geology, hydrology, limnology, stormwater management, water quality, or wildlife studies.
How to Apply
The application deadline is April 1st and by then the application form should be filled out and submitted.

You will be asked to describe what experiences you have had in relation to water resources and watershed management, why you feel you deserve this scholarship and you will need to submit the copy of current college transcripts as well as two recommendation letters .
