The James Beard Foundation Scholarship program has the aim to assist culinary professionals who are interested in further education at a licensed or accredited culinary school or food-focused program.
The James Beard Foundation offers applications for close to 100 scholarships, tuition waivers, and grant opportunities, totaling more than $650,000.
In that way they are assisting students from across the food community.

Awards are not renewable, but you may reapply each year if you meet eligibility requirements.
You should know that the JBF National Scholars Program recipients are selected on the basis of their merit, worthiness, personal and professional recommendations and submitted essay.
Cash award payments are made in one installment to the school for the student.
Who's eligible?
This scholarship has eligibility criteria that have to be met by students.
Make sure you fulfill all the requirements before you apply.
There are also additional eligibility requirements which may apply for some of the James Beard Foundation scholarships.
The James Beard Foundation School Scholarships criteria are:
You must be high school senior or graduate planning to start or continue a course of study at a licensed or accredited culinary school or food-focused program in the upcoming academic year.
Once you apply for the scholarship that would be enough to be taken into consideration for all the scholarships that you meet the requirements.
How to Apply
Application Process consists of registration, so you will have to read and agree to a consent statement, provide email address, and create a username and password.
Then, you will receive consideration on your email address and you are supposed to complete the application by entering data.
Make sure to submit the application form and all required documents electronically by the deadline on May 21st.
When you complete everything, you should click Lock and Submit button and you will no longer have access to your application.
Required documents include:
- A current transcript of grades.
- A completed Applicant Appraisal Form
- Two letters of recommendation from instructors or employers.
Your application is not considered complete unless all required documents are submitted electronically.
If you happen to be the lucky recipient, you will be notified in August.
