The purpose of Interstellar Research Group is to facilitate interstellar research and exploration by hosting regular summit meetings, encouraging educational advances, publishing technical and scientific papers, and supporting literature and culture, all in the service of enhancing public understanding and dialogue toward interstellar exploration. IRG will assist in building a technological, philosophical, and economic infrastructure that advances the goal of establishing outposts throughout the Solar System and, finally, achieving a pathway to the stars.

Interstellar Research Group 2024 Undergraduate College Scholarship Program Tim Bolgeo Memorial Scholarship

  1. Dates for scholarship applications are September 15, 2023, to December 15, 2023. Winners will be announced April 15, 2024.

Purpose: To provide a scholarship to one high school senior or college student planning to/or attending a U.S. university seeking their first undergraduate degree.

Award Components: One $2500 scholarship will be awarded.

Applicant must submit the following items:

  2. A brief (one page) explanation of career goals and biographical (background)
  3. A 1,000 – 2,000-word essay on topics related to interstellar travel missions and its application to achieving interstellar missions, in .docx format (Word).

Deadline for the application is December 15, 2023.

Eligibility Requirements

  1. Applicant must be a full-time student (high school seniors and current undergraduate) accepted to or enrolled in an accredited program in the United States.
  2. Applicant must be a resident of the S/or its territories. The scholarship may be used at any college or university in the United States.
  3. Areas included can be STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) related fields, ecology, social sciences, environmental, business, health, law, agriculture, food sciences, computer science, education, construction, and any degrees which can be applied to interstellar space travel missions and to help establish successful civilizations.
