Charles Shelton Veterinarian Medicine/Technology Scholarship

The Charles Shelton Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit organization that keeps on providing educational scholarships to African-American students who are pursuing a degree in veterinarian medicine or veterinarian technology.

Full Description

The Charles Shelton Foundation provides two non-renewable $2,000 awards offered each year.

Who's eligible?

Before applying for this award, we suggest that you take a look at the eligibility requirements, and only if you meet them all, you should submit the application form.

The eligible applicants for this scholarship are individuals who have demonstrated an interest and commitment to animal welfare and who show good academic standing.

So as to be considered eligible, you must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and provide an official copy of your transcript in a sealed envelope which can prove this.

Then, you need to be an African-American graduating HS senior, current college student or returning college student and a legal U.S. resident.

Furthermore, the scholarship is available only to residents of one of the 50 United States or the District of Columbia.

How to Apply

The application process starts by completing the Veterinary Scholarship Form and providing two professional references from professors that will be able to speak about your experience in Veterinary Medicine or Technology.

Make sure that you have submitted one letter which will be written by a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) professor.

Furthermore, you need to provide proof of full-time enrollment in a college or university and an essay which would be a minimum of 500-750 words answering the following question: What’s your opinion on administering treatment in order to record a reaction with the discomfort animals experience which is necessary to advance medical science?

Furthermore, you will have to write a resume in which you will write about your achievements, honors, community service, and school involvement.

Charles Shelton Foundation Veterinary Scholarship Program application must be postmarked no later than April 15th and it should be sent to the following address:

If you happen to be the lucky scholarship recipient, you must submit proof of enrollment on or before 31 August.
