AMS Named Scholarships

The American Meteorological Society (AMS) established scholarships with the aim to support outstanding students who have difficulties with the payment of their education.

Full Description

What students find amazing is that there are various Undergraduate Scholarships offered if you fill out just one application.

If you happen to be the lucky winner, you will be invited to attend the AMS Annual Meeting with partial support.

Who's eligible?

If you belong to those applicants who are interested in applying for this outstanding award, you have to bear in mind that you must meet the eligibility requirements.

The eligible applicant is the one who is majoring in atmospheric or related oceanic and hydrologic science and who can show clear determination to make the atmospheric or related sciences their career.

Furthermore, you can only apply if you are enrolled full time in an accredited U.S. institution and must have a cumulative grade point average of at least a 3.25 on a scale of 4.0.

This is a need-based scholarship so the eligible applicant must demonstrate financial need.

Last but not least, the applicant must be entering his or her final undergraduate year in the upcoming fall semester to be eligible to apply.

Applicants must be U.S. citizens or hold permanent resident status and there is no age restriction.

Applicants must have in mind the fact that all application tasks have to be completed in order to submit the application for consideration by the deadline date.

Women, minorities, and disabled students who are generally underrepresented in the atmospheric and related oceanic and hydrologic sciences are highly encouraged to apply for this award.

How to Apply

Once you have determined your eligibility, you can apply for the award.

Your application must be completed and must include all supporting materials so as to be considered for the AMS Senior Named Scholarship.

Also, all applications received prior to 7th February would be accepted, while late applications will not, even though the applicant is eligible for the award.

The documents that you will be expected to provide with the completed application form are references and transcripts which will describe you, your achievements, and your career goals.
