When we speak about this scholarship in general, we should mention that this fund has been existing since1993 and helps those most deserving students.

It was created by Albuquerque businessman C.E. Woodcock and his wife, Dixie, with the aim to support students interested in science and math.

So, each year two to three $10,000 scholarships  are awarded.

ACF Woodcock Family Education Scholarship Program is designed for high school graduating seniors due to the fact that the Woodcocks believed the future of math and science depends on the quality of education and if we want to have future leaders in these fields, we need to help them during the difficult period of education.

Who's eligible?

In order to be eligible for this scholarship and get the chance of winning it, you need to meet certain eligibility criteria which states that the applicant must be:

  • an Albuquerque metro area high school graduating senior, including Bernalillo, Sandoval, Valencia and Torrance Counties.
  • a student with strong math and/or science credentials who is attending a college or university,
  • a student with great academic achievements and minimum cumulative GPA 3.8, as well as minimum  ACT composite score of 30 OR minimum Math SAT of 680.

Due to the fact that it is a merit-based award you should not fill out the parts of the application related the financial needs.

The application process lasts until the deadline which is on April 4th and up to that moment the online application form is available.

You should apply only if you are eligible and follow the instructions carefully so as not to make a mistake while filling it out.

You need to attach your transcript and/or resume as well as recommendations from a math or science teacher and one or more references from other teachers, internship or work programs, or community services.

You will be asked to write the scholarship essay on 1 to 2 page maximum in which you should include details about yourself and what are your desires and future plans in life.

You future plans and goals that you mention in the essay has to be related to the field of math or science

It is important to be original, creative and honest.
