Full Description

Applicants are notified of the results by late December and awards are announced in February.

Who's eligible?

If you are wondering whether you are eligible for the Churchill Scholarship, you should know that it is open to US citizens who are in their senior year or have just graduated from one of our Participating Institutions.

How to Apply

The application process for the 15 Churchill Scholarships available in science, mathematics, and engineering finishes in October and all applications are reviewed by a Selection Committee comprised of eight former Churchill Scholars from a variety of STEM disciplines.

You are required to fill out the online application, being that only online applications will be considered.

In addition to the application form, you will also need to supply a 1-page Proposed Program of Study, a 2-page Personal Statement, your transcript, and correspondence with a potential lab supervisor.

Furthermore, you need to request four academic letters of recommendation.

What you need to do is to print out the form and give it to your recommendation writers who must submit them directly to your institution’s Scholarship Office.

The committee has determined the criteria for selection of the most deserving candidate.

The most important characteristic is the outstanding academic achievement.

There is no minimum GPA, though most applicants have a very high average and recent Churchill Scholars have had a GPA of 3.9 or above.

Excellence is proved by course grades and recommendation letters.

The second crucial characteristic is a proven talent in research demonstrated through extensive laboratory experience, internships, or other related work.

Personal qualities are also significant, especially if the applicant shows interests and achievements outside of research.

Your application is not complete until your institution nominates you.
