The TCA – Texas Classical Association is proud to award numerous scholarships to young students who need financial help.

There are five spring scholarships awarded each year and the eligibility criteria as well as the amount awarded vary.

The foundation is offering two scholarships named for Lourania Miller and Gareth Morgan annually.

Full Description

The award is aimed at qualified high school seniors who are planning to continue their study of Latin and the classics while in college.

The requirement is that the students who receive this scholarship must take Latin or Greek their freshman year at college, while the enrollment in Latin cannot be at a beginning level.

The TSJCL Lourania Miller & Gareth Morgan Scholarship for High School Seniors is $1000 for the student, while the teacher of the winning student will be awarded $50 or have the next year’s TCA conference fee waived.

Who's eligible?

So as to be eligible for this award, there are certain requirements to be met.

Firstly, the eligible applicants must reside in Texas to be considered for these scholarships.

You have to be an active, dues paying TCA Member to be a possible award recipient.

How to Apply

The only way of applying for any of the Texas Classical Association is to click the appropriate link for each scholarship.

Everything is done online and the link can be found on the scholarship provider’s official website.

Make sure to submit the application before June 1st as those received later will be rejected.

Besides the official private data, there is the need of submitting some additional documentation, so that your application is complete.

The application must be accompanied by two recommendations, one from your Latin teacher.

You will have to submit your overall GPA, activities and accomplishments other than Latin as well as Latin and a typed essay in which you will be describing the benefits you have received or expect to receive from the study of Latin and/or the classics.

Once the application deadline passes, the applications are reviewed and the winners will be selected.

If you happen to be the lucky recipient, the information about it will be sent to you.
