The Kenneth E. Hasbrouck, Sr. History Scholarship

The Kenneth E. Hasbrouck, Sr. History Scholarship has been awarded every other year since 2001.

The amount of $1,000 is given to one college student who proves to be the most deserving one among so many candidates applying.

Full Description

Historic Huguenot Street Fund offers financial help to all students beyond their freshman year of college.

Kenneth E. Hasbrouck, Sr. History Scholarship committee requires that completed application packets must be received by August 31st and late applications will not be considered.

Who's eligible?

The scholarship is available to both undergraduate and graduate students who are studying one of the following:

  • the impact of Huguenot immigrants or their descendants on American culture and/or language, or on the history of Ulster County, New York, during the period 1600 to 1800.
  • the conservation of artifacts and manuscripts
  • the education of the public about local history in accordance with HHS’ mission.

Students enrolling as undergraduate freshmen are not eligible.

How to Apply

So as to be considered for the award, you will need to submit all the required documents with the completed application form.

Make sure you have submitted the following, as the application will be considered incomplete and will be rejected if some documents are missing.

The applicant has to provide official transcripts.

They can be either mailed directly to Historic Huguenot Street or be sent in an unopened, sealed envelope from the registrar.

Then, two letters of recommendation in sealed envelopes are mandatory.

One letter of recommendation must be from a college or university professor.

The applicant has to write a statement of his/her goals.

All the information provided in the application, as well as supporting materials, has to be accurate.

There are two ways of submitting application packages.

Applicants are encouraged to submit it via email to caitlin@huguenotstreet.org with the words “Scholarship Application” in the subject line.
