South Orange County PFLAG Scholarship application process starts on December 1st and since that moment on the application form will be available on the scholarship provider’s official website for the interested candidates to fill it out and submit it.

The award amount is not given to the school, as it is the case with the majority of scholarships, but the awards will be paid directly to the student.

Scholarship awarded is $2500, but the number of winners might vary.

Who's eligible?

The eligible candidate for this scholarship is an outstanding graduating high school senior and college/vocational student.

The scholarship is offered through PFLAG South Orange County.

It is important to know that this award is available only to residents or children of residents of Orange County between the ages of 17-24 who identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, intersex, or queer/questioning, and to straight allies who have directly supported LGBTQI youth and/or the LGBTQI community.

Additional Scholarship Eligibility Requirements are a minimum 2.0 GPA.

The eligible applicant has to be an LGBTQIA high school senior continuing to higher education or LGBTQIA full-time undergraduate involved in support, education, and advocacy in his/her school or community.

How to Apply

PFLAG website will be open to receive applications beginning December 1st and it is important to submit the application and essay via email by April 1 when the process ends.

Furthermore, as a part of the application process, you should provide a letter of recommendation which must be received via US mail.

Next, you need to provide a current copy of your (or parent’s) driver’s license, state ID card or utility bill to prove residency, as well as your most recent unofficial transcript.

The essay question that you should provide an answer to is – How did you learn about this scholarship?

If you happen to be the lucky recipient, you will be informed about the decision by May 1st by email.

Additionally, you will be asked to attend the South OC PFLAG meeting to accept their awards personally, but the attendance at the award ceremony is not mandatory.
