The Outdoors Writers of Kansas–Harper Memorial Scholarship is named after one of the best-known Kansans of his time, Steve Harper.
He was famous for his photographs and words, being that he was a photojournalism instructor at Wichita State University, the Wichita Eagle’s photography editor and the newspaper’s outdoors writer and photographer.
The committee offers a $1,000 scholarship which is sponsored and funded by the Kansas Wildscape Foundation and the Outdoors Writers of Kansas.
This is a group of journalists, photographers, and artists who keep on sharing the greatness of Kansas outdoors through their work and want to encourage younger generations to join them in their mission.
